Online Ads Soared in First Half

It’s official. 2005 is on track to be the best year for Internet advertising in history, at least in terms of the US Internet advertising industry. Released today, The Interactive Advertising Bureau and PricewaterhouseCoopers released Internet advertising revenue figures for the second quarter and the first six months of 2005. For the quarter, online ad revenues totaled $2.985 billion, a 26% increase over same period 2004.

Canadian Online Advertising Grows Dramatically in 2004, 2005

Results just released from the Interactive Advertising Bureau of Canada (IAB) predict that online revenues for 2005 will exceed $500 million according to their annual survey.

Revenue Trends

2005 (estimated) – $519 million – 43% growth over 2004
2004 (actual) – $364 million – 54% growth over 2003
2003 (actual) – $237 million – 37% growth over 2002
2002 (actual) – $176 million

2004 French actual online revenue is $65.5 million or 18% of 2004 actual.

Top advertising outlets for Canadians businesses.

Display Advertising – 45% of total revenues
Search Advertising – 30% share of all online advertising is 2004
Classified / Directories / Direct Reponse at 22% of total revenue
Email at 3%
